Train Crash at Kerang Empty
PostSubject: Train Crash at Kerang   Train Crash at Kerang EmptyTue Jun 05, 2007 11:13 am

Just watched GTV 9's report on the train trash at Kerang. Any knowledge of what N-class it was?

The up swan hill hauled by N460 was hit by a semi just out of Kerang, so far 8 are dead and an unknown amount injured with the semi driver in hospital; Many have been flown to Melbourne hospitals.

The lights and bells were working and it seems the wet weather could have contributed. from what I've been told the truck hit the pass cars with the BRS and the BRN separated.

This level crossing did not have boom gates.

Do we know if the loco (N460) was damaged or derailed? And what type of damage have the 3 carriges endured? I know that at least one will be written off and probably scrapped.

The loco and the ACN car had not direct contact with the truck but BRN 20 copped a direct hit.

Just to keep people posted:

10 confirmed dead
Up to 52 wounded
Walking wounded still at scene

To keep this thread open, please do not comment on the people.

Also, how about the staff on the train, what happened to them?

BRN20 is a statutory write-off, and will be scrapped before long. While BN19 can be repaired, it is unlikely as it will be an extremely expensive job.

Notice this thread stayed open?

Failpage basically covered up the whole thing, I heard a few well known members left because of the shoddy censoring/moderating.
