Cranbourne station upgrade

The Cranbourne station upgrade is the first stage of works to be delivered for the Dandenong Rail Corridor.

Storing the trains at the end of the line allows for more efficient use of trains. It reduces the impact of a bottleneck at Cranbourne where trains turn around and eliminates “empty train movements” from other stabling locations to the end of the line.

The project will include:
*new housing for six trains – the project will ensure additional storage capacity for Melbourne’s fleet of trains, particularly with the purchase of new trains planned in the near future
*construction of a new Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliant station with improved amenity and security.
*upgrades to the bus interchange and ‘kiss and ride’ areas to improve access to the station and platforms.
*upgrades to the car park - 90 extra parking spaces will be formalised to meet the growing needs of the public transport users.

All very interesting.

What is wrong with the Cranbourne railway station with DDA requirements?

They have only just built that place to Premium status, so why does it not comply now?

Maybe what's wrong is that the rail crossing on the South Gippsland Highway has been tarred over. Restore this to working order, and reopen the railway to South Gippsland.

The tarred over crossing has no effect on the DDA compliancy of the Station.

It's proberly some little thing. The only reason upfield isn't shown as a premimum station is because it doesn't have disabled access
